Chief inspector John Sheehan said 37 lambs and 18 merinos were reported stolen from a Glenovel Road property sometime between January 8 and 21.
The owner valued the stock at about $10,000. It’s not known at this stage how the sheep were stolen. Anyone with information is urged to contact Goulburn Police on 4824 0799 or through Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
The theft follows a spate of similar incidents. The Post reported earlier this month that 14 sheep were stolen from Kath and Wayne Dowling’s Dalton property over the holidays. The couple estimated the animals were worth over $2000.
Stock and property thefts and breaks to gate locks were also reported on community Facebook pages but police were not necessarily advised.
Meantime, police continue to investigate a fire that destroyed the former Crestwood supermarket and adjoining residence on December 28. Investigators were only able to undertake a preliminary inspection of the interior due to the danger of roof collapse.
