Many gathered despite the heat for the Australia Day event in Victoria Park on Saturday. They listened to speeches and saw fellow citizens acknowledged for their efforts in contributing to the community. Ross Kirkby was named Goulburn’s Citizen of the Year. He has dedicated himself to community service in various capacities for over 38 years. Tamika Wallace was named Goulburn’s Youth Citizen of the Year. Tamika is a school captain at Mulwaree High and has a strong community spirit. The Periphery Theatre Festival was named the Event of the Year. This event was hosted by the Lieder Theatre in October 2018 and was a week-long event consisting of workshops, discussions and networking and culminating in performances.
The Goulburn Regional Conservatorium Choir sang a sweet rendition of Stairway to Heaven, among other songs.
