Graham was recognised for his involvement in the community and kindness to older persons having trouble of any kind.

Graham is secretary of the Historical Society. He is also secretary of the Red Cross Branch. Graham is  involved with the RFS, the Golf Club and the Taste of Taralga.

In his speech of acceptance Graham said he was honoured by the award but added Taralga was a great community in which to live. Graham also mentioned the fact that Taralga was almost 200 years old and it was planned to celebrate the event on the long weekend in October.

Jem Green, the captain of Crookwell High School, was awarded the Young Citizen of the Year. His brief speech spoke on the honour of being named Young Citizen. He said he was proud to be part of such a good community. 

Accepting the Award for the Taralga Event of the Year, Stewart McLean gave special thanks to the hardworking volunteers who do so much towards preparing the ground and facilities each year for the event which began in 1966.

Taralga has been celebrating Australia Day since 1959.

On Sunday afternoon a hailstorm travelled from Myrtleville through the village. Stones cut the Stonequarry Road the Woolshed Bridge. Access to Taralga was through the Richland Road. Goslpie received 25mm.  

The sudden passing of Kathleen Hartley on January 23 shocked friends and neighbours. Kathleen loved the land, was treasurer of the Taralga Landcare Group  for many years and was awarded a Life Membership n 2018 in recognition of her work. Kathleen was also a foundation member of the Taralga Garden Club when it began in 1991. Kathleen was a friendly, happy person and noted as an excellent cook.

Taralga lost one of its senior members with the passing of Fergine Croker on January 24. Fergine, born in 1925, was one of the three daughters of Les and Sarah Cameron (nee Durack). Fergine married Fred Croker (dec.) and raised 14 children. She is survived by 37 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. Fergine was a keen gardener, a member of the Garden Club as well as a keen bowler in the Women’s Bowling Club.
