The Laggan Pig Races, held at Laggan Pub, are an outstanding annual crowd pleaser with “thoroughbred racing piglets” dressed in colourful silks competing across various courses and negotiating obstacles to be crowned the winner and rewarded with a dish of delicious milk.

The event has a full afternoon of exciting racing and live entertainment, food and drink. It is ideal for groups seeking authentic country entertainment, young and old, including families, with the grassed area ideal for a picnic lunch.
Or enjoy prepared food supplied by Laggan Pub’s chef or a country barbecue hosted by the local football club.
The feature race, the Laggan Cup, will be open to all racing piglets and with the fine talent across the field, it will be a close finish.
If you enjoy the thrill of racing, laughing with the race caller or just cheering on your favourite little trotter, this is guaranteed to be a fantastic day.

Irish Heritage Weekend
The Irish Heritage weekend starts next Friday evening with Irish music sessions from 8pm till late.
Saturday begins with Irish music sessions in the pavilion during the morning, an Irish song workshop at 11am with Kathryn Clements, music sessions will continue till the fun Ceili Dance Workshop, which commences at 3pm.
Following the workshop, music sessions will continue till 7.30pm when the traditional Irish Ceili dance will commence. Entry to the showground events is free.
Event organiser, Mr Paul Gallagher, sums it up: “The sights and sounds of Ireland will fill the showground for three days between Friday and Sunday, February 15-17, in what promises to be a feast of traditional music and song”.
A traditional Irish music concert will be held at the Crookwell RSL Club on Saturday evening, doors open at 6pm with pre-concert entertainment, concert starts at 7pm through to 11.30pm, $15 per ticket.
If you have any Irish blood or wished you had, this is an event to get your hands clapping, feet tapping and raise a smile while you sing along and have some fun.

Gunning Show
The Gunning PA & I Society will be hosting the Gunning Show on Sunday, February 17. This country show will connect agriculture, country produce, craft and livestock with visitors. Popular events include a shearing competition, wood chop, exhibits displaying spinning and dying, black coloured wool and beer.
This is a great opportunity to support the resilience of agricultural communities and rural towns that have been challenged by extraordinary dry conditions over recent years.
