Since its beginning, the Australian Blues Music Festival has fostered fledgling musicians. Goulburn’s own Kane Dennelly, pictured left, credits his career success to festival exposure in his teens.
Then there’s Lloyd Spiegel, who played at the first festival as a 13-year-old. On Saturday night he was announced as the winner in all but two categories of the Australian Blues Music Awards. Best New Talent went to Simon Kinney-Lewis. Best Duo or group to Lazy Eye.
In its 23rd year in 2019, the festival was founded by publicans George and Maryanne Lipman and Richard Simmer of the Tattersalls Hotel in 1997.
