A council spokesperson said picnic tables had been damaged, broken glass was left in the Adventure Playground and cars have been driving with intent to cause damage in the park. Food was also left in the barbecue area while a school uniform was left burned in the playground.
Goulburn Mulwaree Mayor Bob Kirk said this disgraceful behaviour is creating a significant loss of time and money for Council staff.
“It’s infuriating that our staff have to be taken away from other important projects and work that is done for the benefit of the community to have to clean up vandalism in our great community spaces,” Cr Kirk said.
“On Saturday morning it took a number of hours for multiple staff members to clean up the area so families and children could use the area on the weekend.”
“In October last year we lodged an application with the Federal Government Safer Communities Fund for $230,000 for CCTV in Victoria Park. Angus Taylor has been very supportive of our community and we will be lobbying strongly for this funding.”
Those with information about the vandalism spree can report it directly to Goulburn Police on 4824 0799.
