NEW OFFICE BEARERS
At the recent Historical Society AGM, president Michael Chalker said: “Another year has come and gone and it’s time to elect office bearers. The complex is in good shape as are the finances. All due to yourselves, the hardworking members and volunteer non-members.

“Throughout the year we continued to reorganise and upgrade in small ways the interior of the church. This included installing additional display cabinets, displays and labelling.
“We constructed a picnic shelter in memory of the late Patricia Blay and the late Lorraine and Ian Ross, suitable plaques/signage is yet to be attached.
“The Womby Van, which is used for storage and doubles as a temporary archives room, has been tastefully clad in timber and now fits more sympathetically within the complex.
“The Heritage Shed, in December, suffered hail damage. Twelve sheets of transparent laserlite were damaged – these sheets have been replaced.
“The issue of the overhanging pine branches over the Nissen Hut has been satisfactorily addressed.
“New exhibits in the shed include (on a loan basis) a Model T Ford, courtesy of member, Peter Davies; an early model grey Ferguson Tractor, courtesy Robert and Gwen Handley. Charles Bradbury has donated a church pew from St John’s Church, Curraweela, together with other significant items. Malcolm Ross has donated a beautifully crafted stringy bark table made by his father, Ian.
“The October long weekend saw a well attended Open Day and over-70s photo shoot.
“Graham Lambert has set up in the hall many early district photos. All of these pictures can be purchased framed from the society.
“Members, in conjunction with the Golf Club and RFS members, catered for the Heritage Machinery Weekend. This function was a financial success.
“Members also assisted with the barbecue over two days of the rodeo weekend.
“Arrangements for the Charles Throsby and party’s 200 year anniversary in October are progressing well. Brochures are available.”
Ken Fleming took the chair for the election of office bearers. Mike Chalker was elected president: he thanked members but said this would be his last year.
Vice presidents elected were Ken Fleming and Chris Ainsworth. Secretary Graham Lambert was not present but had said he would accept the position. Assistant secretary appointed was Pat Murray. Treasurer Glenys Wright declined nomination and Judith Mathews was appointed. Assistant will be Glenys Wright. Archives officers are Maureen Long, Mary Chalker and Pat Murray. Judy Chalker, Annette Chalker and Margaret McAlister were appointed in charge of catering. Newsletter editor is Maureen Long, publicity officer, Mary Mooney and garden officers, Matt and Annette Chalker.
An acknowledgement
Richard Davison would like to acknowledge the grants from the Taralga Wind Farm made available to the community for various projects that have been carried out at the Taralga War Memorial Hall.
He would also like to thank the local committee to whom he is grateful for approving the applications he has made for the grants to make these projects happen.
Also the assistance and cooperation of the Upper Lachlan Shire Council.
Richard advises that the hall floor has now been completed with a wonderful job carried out by Wilber Clarke and that the automatic doors are installed (after many headaches with incorrect procedure). All has been corrected and the doors are all in working order.
