The Snugglepot and Cuddlepie musical will run on March 8, 9, 15 and 16 from 7pm and March 10 from 2pm at the St Nicholas Church Hall.
Auditions were held in September while rehearsals began in October and director of the musical, Sarah Trama, said there was a cast of all levels of talent.
“We knew some of the people auditioning through previous shows, we also had some new people come along who knew the story or knew there would be children's roles involved,” Ms Trama said.
“We’ve got a really good mix of people who are new to theatre or have experience.
“Everyone’s been working really hard on it so hopefully, it will be a fantastic show.”
Ms Trama said the two hour show would have a multi-sensory experience.
“There’ll be projections of the original images as well as eucalyptus and bush smells and sounds going throughout the show,” she said.
“The singing is in cantata style, so the whole show is sung rather than being told through dialogue.
“The story is through the music and then through the images on the screen above.”
The premise of the musical is that gumnut brothers, Snugglepot and Cudlepie, go on an adventure to see a human and are joined by Mr Lizard and Little Ragged Blossom along the way. However, Mrs Snake and the Bad Banksia Men are the bad guys trying to stop them in their tracks.
Ms Trama said the musical is one not to be missed.
"It’s a really fun and family friendly musical," she said.
"It’s great for children who want to be introduced to the characters and for people who grew up with the story themselves."
Adult tickets are $25 while children and concession tickets are $15.
