Dossie Street may not be instantly recognisable to most residents, but it is found at the southern end of Sloane Street near Finlay Road.
The site is adjacent to the former Goulburn Saleyards, where the owner has begun to remove existing structures in preparation for redevelopment of the site. There is also a proposed subdivision of 12 Tait Crescent, and the connection of Tait Crescent and Lockyer Street will have associated benefits.
South Goulburn continues to be a key driver of economic growth in Goulburn, and the rezoning of this land in Dossie Street will create further opportunity for general industrial development in this area.
Barefoot Waterski Club
As some readers will be aware, the Goulburn Barefoot Waterski Club is proposing to use the Copford Reach section of the Wollondilly River as a base for their club and activities.
This issue has been somewhat divisive for councillors as we considered the matter twice in late 2018, before again receiving a report on February 5. The club has been quite proactive, and reported back to us in February addressing some of the issues that had arisen, such as toilets, operating hours and suitability of the proposal.
A key consideration will obviously also be noise, and the proximity to nearby houses and housing developments. To further gauge the community’s feeling on the proposal we have now begun a 28-day consultation period which will conclude on Friday, March 15.
Throughout this period the club is allowed to operate for a period of three days per week from 9am to 7pm. Written submissions are due before close of business Friday, March 15. Submissions can be sent by mail to: General Manager, Locked Bag 22, Goulburn NSW 2580, alternatively they can be dropped into the Civic Centre (184 Bourke St, Goulburn) or emailed to submissions@goulburn.nsw.gov.au
Ray Harvey Sports Foundation
Nominations for the second round of the Ray Harvey Sports Foundation grants are now open. Any young sportsperson or relevant recognised sporting organisation or association is invited to apply.
Last year, 13 grants were handed out, enabling some of Goulburn’s most talented young sportspeople to attend competitions, undertake extra training programs and achieve their goals.
The foundation was established in memory of Ray Harvey, one of Goulburn’s top all-round sportsmen. Ray contributed much to sport and the community over the years, and his legacy lives on through this foundation.
Applications are available at the Civic Centre (184 Bourke Street, Goulburn) or online from https://www.goulburn.nsw.gov.au/Community/Ray-harvey.aspx
