The 20km course extended from the cemetery up a steady climb to the turnaround point just past Dennys Lane. The cross wind was a challenge for the riders.
The racing in A Grade was exceptionally fast despite the conditions with virtually nothing separating the peloton for the entire race.
On the approach the final hill four riders opened up a break and from the crest it became a sprint to the finish.
The judges awarded the win to Jacob Emmerton with Mark Gibson second and Cameron Roberts third.
With all riders seeking valuable club championship points the racing was tight in B Grade. Nothing separated the peloton at the turn and any attempt at a breakaway was quickly shut down.
On the rolling hills to the finish line the peloton started to stretch out as the pressure was applied.
Over the final crest and on the downhill to the finish line the race became a mass sprint for victory.
In another blanket finish Jason McLaughlin received the nod from the judges and edged out Robbie Dorsett and Corey Peterson.
In C Grade strong, consistent riding saw Shannon Apps, Mark Stutchbury, Jason Cook, Brendan Bassett and Chris Berry open up a break by the turnaround. Brendan Bassett faded as the pace increased in the final five kilometres while Jason Cook found the final climb one hill too many.
Chris Berry lead the remaining riders over the climb and in an unusual displace of patience and tact waited for the moves from Shannon Apps and Mark Stutchbury.
Shannon opened up her sprint with Mark in close pursuit provoking Chris to respond and lead the charge to the line.
For the first time in about five years the senior citizen, Chris Berry out-sprinted the much younger opponents to take out a win.
Shannon Apps finished second and Mark Stutchbury third.
Starting with the elite A Graded riders Jimmy Spiers cruised to victory in D Grade.
