The small but rapidly growing community of Marulan gains a new commercial hub with the official opening of the brand new Marulan Village Centre this coming weekend.
The first business to open its doors is IGA + Liquor, and it's among the biggest stores that belong to the brand.
"This is the largest and most exciting development for Marulan since the opening of the highway service centres and signifies the transformation of the township from a small, rural community into a fully-serviced township," Leigh Hyland of Shore Commercial said.
The developers have done their research too, with Mr Hyland also informing us that the town of Marulan has a projected 15 percent population growth over the next five years.
This growth is what has paved the way for the new village centre.

As the main anchor tenant, the IGA supermarket with bakery and liquor departments will attract customers who will also be looking for things like a cafe, a medical practice, a take-away food outlet, or a chemist, any of whom can take a lease in one of the six other retail spaces.
"The businesses that take up the available shopfronts can benefit from the feasibility research and confidence IGA has placed in Marulan as the location for their latest, and one of their largest, supermarkets.
"As there are currently only a handful of established retail businesses in Marulan, there is an excellent opportunity for new ventures in the Marulan Village Centre to offer a one-of-a-kind business in the town."
Mr Hyland described shop 1 as a 160 square metre site which is situated nearest the street, and out the front of it you'll find a large deck for outside seating.
Shop 7 is a large 512 square metre space that could be leased in its entirety, or divided as required.
Meanwhile shops 3-6 are a more compact 80 square metres each, but if you have a business venture in mind that will need more room, two or more adjacent units can be joined together.
The development has also been designed to offer ample car parking, as well as considerable landscaping to create a relaxed village hub atmosphere where people will be able to shop and meet.
"Until now, locals have had to drive some distance to do their shopping, but the new Marulan Village Centre will revolutionise the way locals shop and live their lives.
"Now they can do their weekly shopping just minutes from home and relax with a coffee at the centre afterwards.
"Marulan is booming, with new jobs and houses appearing every week and that's all good news for new or established retail businesses looking to get a foothold in this growing environment."
Located less than two hours from Sydney and just over an hour from Canberra, Marulan was originally a meeting place for indigenous communities.
Its colonial history dates back to the 1820s when settlers combed the area for fertile farmland.
Marulan became a horse and coach stop and later a railway town on what quickly became a busy transport corridor with the formation of the Great South Road, now the Hume Highway; one of the nation's busiest corridors. Historic buildings in the town near the new Marulan Village Centre date back to the 1870s.
"We are confident the new Marulan Village Centre will become a vibrant and successful hub for savvy businesses and locals," Mr Hyland said.
"We expect heightened interest from prospective rental tenants to be part of this pivotal development in Marulan's history."
