In honour of his son, since 2012 there has been a 'Sydney2Camberra' cycling event.
"A few mates got together from 2012," Mr Belfield said during a stop-over in Goulburn on the weekend.
"All the money raised from the event will go to the Stillbirth Foundation and Red Nose Australia."
This year's aim was to raise $300,000 and the tally currently stands at a little over $230,000, through fundraising pages and a charity golf day in Sydney.
Over 40 volunteers were involved in the non-competitive event on the weekend, although there was a stage called the 'King of the Mountain' in Moss Vale. "This is the stage where some of the cyclers stretch their legs and test themselves," said co-organiser Gavan Gordon.
Channel Nine's Erin Molan is also an ambassador for Sydney2Camberra.
