This festival honours the humble spud which we have been growing for over 150 years in the Crookwell region due to our high altitude and rich basalt soils.
There is an exciting schedule for the day and many spudalicious activities to choose from.
The events of the weekend start on the Friday evening with the Crookwell Potato Festival Art Show, Crookwell Library Book Fair and the entertaining Last Night of the Proms Concert at St Bartholomew's, which will feature the South Sudanese Dancers and Choir.
Two special guests will be attending this year: Lyndey Milan OAM, award winning presenter and food and wine teacher, and Irish Ambassador Breandan O Caollai.
Both will be involved in our annual potato auction that will sell off an exotic cranberry red potato to the highest bidder. The potato auction supports the Upper Lachlan Foundation who run a grants program to fund community projects.
The Patata Café will be hosting cooking demonstrations from an array of culinary enthusiasts including Lyndey Milan.
There are indoor and outdoor market stalls, The Bubble Man, inflatable slide, side show games, classic and vintage car show, Crookwell Spud Dogs fly ball demonstration, Crookwell Veterinary Hospital Pet Parade and the CWA Decorated Potato Competition.
Music lovers are in for a treat with some inspiring performers coming to town, including trio Rosie McDonald, Nigel Lever and Marcus Holden. Rosie and Nigel livened up proceedings at the Crookwell Irish Heritage weekend in February with their renditions of Irish music enriched with bluegrass, blues and American folk. This time they are joined on the stage by the amazingly dynamic Marcus Holden.
And have you ever wondered what a commercial potato farm looks like? While you're visiting for the festival take an Ecofarm Tour and see how Crookwell potatoes and wildlife co-exist in harmony. The place in question belongs to NSW Landcare 2017 State Champion Garry Kadwell and tours will run throughout the day.
Across the weekend, many local attractions are open including the Alpaca Farm Experience, Crookwell Railway Museum, Tea House and Gallery and Crystal Brook Gardens and Lavender Farm.
