The Geckos have begun the year in much the same form with which they finished 2018. Following a heartbreaking loss to Wests in the grand final, Goulburn has come out this season looking to stamp their authority over their Canberra opponents, and so far only Wests and OCHC have managed to stop them.
While United did not present the hardest of challenges for the Geckos, as they currently sit sixth on the ladder, it did give them the opportunity to get back in the winning column as their two defeats came in consecutive rounds.
This sets Goulburn up nicely for its next clash, against St Patrick's on June 1.
This weekend, the Geckos will enjoy a well-earned break with a bye. The rest will serve them well as they prepare to take on St Patrick's, who are struggling this season and currently sit with one win, one draw, and five losses.
While no match in the division can be taken for granted, Goulburn are comfortable favourites going into this match and should emerge victorious.
The match between Goulburn and St Patrick's will begin at 1.00pm on Saturday June 1 at the Goulburn Hockey Fields.
