Gary Michael Campbell, 50, pleaded guilty to charges of supplying a prohibited drug of an indictable and commercial quantity, four counts of possessing a prohibited drug, acting as the owner or occupier of a property and knowingly allowing it to be used as a drug premises and assaulting a police officer when he appeared via audio visual link in Goulburn Local Court on May 22.
Police facts tendered in court said that during a search of Campbell's home around 9.35am on December 12, 2018 they found a set of digital scales with a white powdery substance on them; a small resealable plastic bag containing a small amount of crystallised substance on the bedside table; two Seagate branded portable hard drives given in payment of drugs; a black magnetic plastic case containing 36 grams of methamphetamine; a cry-vac bag containing 1.96gm of buprenorphine (prescribed for treatment of heroin and methadone dependence); a small gold scoop; a white case of 12.56gm of cannabis; a black ceramic bowl with a small amount of mixed chopped cannabis inside; glass water pipes; syringes; and payment for drugs.
Police also found a CCTV camera at the front of the property with a live feed to the bedroom.
"All of these entities are consistent with the operation of a drug premises and street level supply," the police facts said.
In court, Campbell's solicitor said some of the drugs were for personal use but that his client had accepted the harm drugs have on the community and his relationships with family and friends.
Magistrate Geraldine Beattie said Campbell's drug activity had a significant affect on the community.
She also said that Campbell had assaulted a police officer while on bail.
"After the search police granted you bail and then you committed further offences. You ran away from police, threw away methamphetamine in your possession and assaulted a police officer. You grabbed the officer and pulled him to the ground," Magistrate Beattie said.
Campbell's solicitor said his client had little to no memory of assaulting the police officer.
Campbell was sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment starting on March 4, 2019 and ending on June 3, 2020 with a non-parole period of eight months. He will be eligible for parole on November 3.
