As the construction of the new pavilion at Seiffert Oval nears completion, Goulburn Mulwaree Council, at its May 21 meeting, called for suggestions as to whose name it should bear.
On June 2, the GDCA responded with a letter addressed to the council which suggested Robson's.
The late stalwart, who passed away in early 2009, enjoyed a storied career involved with Goulburn cricket at both senior and junior levels as a player, administrator, groundsman, and manager.
Robson initially played cricket for Wollongong, until his move to Goulburn in 1966. He played in Goulburn from 1966 until his retirement in 1991 at the sprightly age of 67.
During his 43 years in town, Robson spent 20 as the president of the GDCA, and 11 as the president of the Southern Zone.
His list of cricketing credentials could span several pages, and there is no doubt in the mind of current GDCA president, Tim Price, that Robson deserves the chance to be immortalised on the new pavilion.
"GDCA feels that this would be a fitting tribute to Ken not just for his extraordinary contribution to cricket but to the Goulburn community in general," Price wrote in the letter.
"GDCA feel that the life of Ken speaks for itself and shows he was a man of high integrity and worth to the town he called home."
The thought of a pavilion being named in his honour has been floated for some time in the Goulburn cricket community.
Shortly after Robson's passing in 2009, current GDCA vice-president, Bob Smith, said that he "would like to see the pavilion at Seiffert Oval named the Ken Robson pavilion."
In a statement after its most recent meeting, a council spokesman said that: "The recommended name(s) should reflect a person(s) who has contributed significantly to sport in the Goulburn Mulwaree area or any other name that the community are of the opinion should be used to reflect the importance of the new pavilion."
Applications are invited and close at 5pm, June 20.
