Highlighting the afternoon are two heats of the very popular Menangle Country Series, each of which carries $10,000 of prize money.
The first of these is race 4, the Sun Solutions Goulburn Club Menangle Where Horses Fly heat at 1.53 pm in which Mist You will go to the start as the short priced favourite. Trained by Andrew Roberts of Marra near Junee, the six-year-old mare will be driven by Goulburn's Brad Hewitt.
A four times winner Mist You was a game second at Wagga last start when she did all the hard work leading from the outside gate. In a fast 1:55.0 mile rate, the Mister Big mare was nabbed short of the line by Gumly Grey who enjoyed the perfect sit on her back.
This afternoon Mist You will start from the two gate and looks the obvious leader and winner.
Hardest to beat will be the Bathurst trained Rock Bottom for the Wendy Turnbull stable.
With strong recent Menangle form, Rock Bottom has to overcome the outside barrier in what will be a very interesting race. Next best is the Todd Day trained Roll Along Jane who has been racing with little luck in recent starts.
The second of the Menangle features is race six, the Southern Highlands Equine Centre Menangle Country Series heat. Programmed for the C1/2 pacers, the likely favourite is the Ben Settree trained Passions Delight.
As the winner of more than $100,000, Passions Delight comes into this race with a fine racing record but has to contend with the outside of the second line draw. This will leave her vulnerable to the Young based Mah Koo Loo Queen who has drawn gate one and has the speed to capitalise on the good draw.
Mah Koo Loo Queen has strong recent form and last start was a narrow second behind Seattle Trace in a smart 1:55.8 mile rate. From the one gate, Mah Koo Loo Queen can find the front with relative ease and should prove very hard to run down.
Away from the two main races, local trainers look well placed to challenge the visiting stables. In the opening race, the Hollingworth Crane Hire Service pace for two-year-old pacers, Neil Day prepares Nichel Blue and Better Than Magic with both pacers having strong winning chances.
In race three, the RSM Accountants Goulburn Three Year Old Pace, Sam Hewitt will line up Taumalolo from gate three. Improved by his first up performance at Canberra, Taumalolo has an outside chance in a weak field to bring up his first career win.
Gates to the Goulburn Paceway will be open from 11am and the club's committee invites all harness fans to come out and experience the wonderful facilities of the Grace Millson Centre.
Enjoy quality food and a wide range of cold alcoholic and soft drinks while watching all the racing action in comfort.
The Goulburn Harness Racing Club thanks its sponsors for their continued support.
