Our team of rangers and associated staff do a wonderful job in trying conditions - responding to calls, looking after animals at our facility and working hard to re-home these dogs, cats and other friends.

We are having great success in the rehoming space, and over the last six months 87 percent of the animals that went through the facility, and were suitable for adoption, were re-homed.
To continue this success, staff have led a rebranding and revitalisation process for the facility, which is now named the Goulburn Mulwaree Animal Shelter. We will be having a grand opening on Saturday, June 29, which will be an opportunity for community members to see the facility, as well as the animals currently in care at the shelter.
The grand opening will be a fun day, with a barbecue run by Rotary Goulburn, and balloon animals and face painting by Rainbow Faces. All animals up for adoption will also be available to view on the day. I hope to see you at the shelter at 41B Ross Street, Goulburn between 11am and 2pm on Saturday, June 29.
CBD Vacancy Rates
Following the state and federal elections it feels like things are starting to get back to normal, with businesses now able to make decisions on investment without the background noise of the intense political campaigns.
Our CBD vacancy audit for June 2019 was undertaken last week and shows that while things aren't perfect, we still for the most part have a thriving CBD with diverse retail offerings. Vacancy within the total CBD is 9 percent, which translates to 20 vacancies in comparison with 223 occupancies. It's important that we all continue to shop local where we can, as these are the businesses that support our community groups, sporting teams and other community initiatives.
Council has also recently been running a marketing campaign in Sydney via web advertisements and radio promoting the Goulburn Mulwaree region for relocation. We are again seeing the results of this with some interesting opportunities over the last few weeks - if and when these progress further I'll be sure to keep you informed.
Pavilion naming
A reminder that council has called for recommendations from the community for the naming of the new Seiffert Oval Pavilion. The recommended name(s) should reflect a person(s) that has contributed significantly to sport in the Goulburn Mulwaree area or any other name that the community are of the opinion should be used to reflect the importance of the new pavilion.
They may be emailed to council@goulburn.nsw.gov.au or posted to Locked Bag 22, Goulburn, NSW, 2580. Submissions close 5pm, next Thursday, June 20.
