Goulburn Mulwaree Rotary has been very supportive of the local community over the past year with fundraisers like their Annual Charity Book Fair and Swap Meet.
Over $68,000 has been given to individuals in need, charitable organisations, and supporting local youth and initiatives.
While donations and assistance are made throughout the year, the total sum of money spent is most apparent at the end of the Rotary year in June. This is the time that a new club president and board are sworn in.
The donations were to:
Outgoing president Graeme Hewett was very proud of the club's efforts.
"Every president wants to end the year with a large amount of money spent on helping others" he said.
"This year was no exception, with the Goulburn community turning out in droves to support our Charity Book Fair and a record breaking Swap Meet.
Book fair and Swap Meet organisers, Rotarians Robert Morgan and Peter Simpson, felt their hard work was vindicated with the amount of money raised.
"Knowing we are helping so many local individuals, charities and organisations makes it all worthwhile" Mr Morgan said.
"Supporting worldwide Rotary charities allows us to make an impact as global citizens" added Peter.
Youth have also benefited from the fundraising efforts said the club's Youth Initiatives director Sarah Ruberto.
"We are currently sponsoring a local year 11 student in and educational exchange to Norway, and will soon be hosting an inbound international student in Goulburn," she said.
"This is in addition to other youth support projects the club has donated to."
Public Relations director, Vero Joseph, summed up the benefits of being part of Rotary.
"There is nothing better than giving back to our community in a way that makes a significant difference," he said.
"These donations help community organisations continue to do the great work they do, and helps Rotary International make an impact around the world."
The Club meets every Monday night at 6pm for a 615pm start at the Goulburn Soldiers Club. Contact them through their Facebook page - just search 'Rotary Club of Goulburn Mulwaree' if you are interested in finding out more.
