Ahead of his team's clash with the Queanbeyan Kangaroos this Saturday, Goulburn Bulldogs coach Adam Kyle reflected on the first half of the 2019 season.

In a typically balanced fashion, Kyle said that the Bulldogs have performed extremely well, but was aware that they need to maintain their discipline for the next nine weeks.
"I think at this stage, to be in second [on the ladder] and going in with the best attack and the best defence for us is something that we're very proud of as a club," he said.
"But no-one at the end of the season looks back to see where you were positioned at the halfway mark. There's a lot of hard work put in so far, but probably even more hard work to put in at the back end of the season."
The Bulldogs have so far maintained their excellent for-and-against ratio, and currently lead the points differentials by more than 60.
However, Kyle is well aware that the brief lapses to which the team is prone can cost them dearly.
"That's probably another part of our game that we still need to improve on," he said.
"The two games we lost this year were two games that were really tight in the contest, and we probably tried to overplay our hand a little bit as opposed to just getting through the grind."
It is difficult to blame the Bulldogs for their occasional over-eagerness. Their 2019 roster is full to the brim of talented, explosive players, any of whom could turn a match on a dime.
The challenge that Kyle faces is how to instil discipline and rigour into the team without quashing its flair and explosive style of play.
"Some of the playing talent we've got, we're certainly in a position to take control of those [close] games," Kyle said.
"But they're things that are very hard to train for until you're in that moment and that situation."
While the Bulldogs are comfortable favourites ahead of this weekend's clash, Kyle knows that the Kangaroos are never to be underestimated on their home soil.
"They've been a great club for a long time, and I think at the moment they're only a win or two away from being in the top four," Kyle said.
"If we don't turn up with the right mentality, they will certainly come out and put a result on us."
The Kangaroos are currently sixth on the ladder with three wins and four losses, and one draw in 2019.
Their last match was a 28-16 loss to the first-placed Tuggeranong Bushrangers, but the score was blown out by late tries. Up until the dying minutes, the Kangaroos had remained well in touch.
Only three points separate the third and sixth-ranked teams on the ladder, and a win this weekend would prove invaluable to the Kangaroos' season hopes.
The match will take place at Seears Workwear Oval this Saturday from 3.00pm.
