Conroy's photographic and drone work spans several years is informed by the discipline of field archaeology. Sightseeing captures large scale moments from Conroy's exploration of sites in Cyprus, Turkey, Syria and Australia, including Lake George.
His work focuses on the debris and incidental discoveries of both sites of antiquity, and sites of urban excavation, said Dr Kate Warren, lecturer of art history and curatorship in the School of Art and Design at the Australian National University.
His photographic series works against the tendencies of crispness, glossiness and high-definition aesthetics, she said. Instead, he will return again and again to the same matter to reveal the matter. He photographs the landscape at Lake George piece by piece and stitches it together.
Crookwell-based artist Jean Whittle presents a series of oil paintings, The Deluge.
Whittle has previously entered artwork in the iconic Wynne Prize for Australian landscapes run by the Art Gallery of NSW. She has a unique style of painting, in that she applies the paint directly to the surface with her bare hands. Her subject is the Australian landscape and she uses an unblended palette to capture its natural beauty.
The exhibitions are at Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, Bourke Street, July 12 to September 7.
