For this week's column I will cover off some of these issues:
- Sale of 56 Clinton Street and 4 Lanigan Lane
As a council we resolved to retain ownership of the Clinton Street building and the associated car park in Lanigan Lane. We've asked the General Manager to commence the process of finalising term lease agreements with tenants that are prepared to commit to more than the current month to month agreements, and to identify any opportunities for community centre activities in conjunction with Workspace Goulburn and any proposals to upgrade the Bourke Street premise. A report will come back to the council, and will address any financial implications to the current budget and include options to address these.
- Naming of Seiffert Oval Pavilion
The brilliant new Seiffert Oval Pavilion is now nearing completion, and on Tuesday we considered submissions through a public consultation process to name the pavilion. The council resolved to name the pavilion the Ken Robson Pavilion.
- Australian Blues Music Festival
The council will engage Australian National Events for the management and delivery of the Australian Blues Music Festival 2020-2024. Four panel members including the Deputy Mayor considered three submissions for this tender.
- Round three of Stronger Country Communities Fund
Applications for the third round of this fund will close on September 27. An allocation of $886,929 is available for Goulburn Mulwaree and 50 percent of this funding must go to youth projects. The council will promote eight projects to the fund: Community Bus; All abilities access to Bourke Street Centre; Amenities block at Cookbundoon Sports Fields; Youth hub at PCYC; Raisable Basketball Backboards at Basketball Arena; Bungonia Village Amenities Block; Expansion of youth cafe; and Stage 2 of the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery.
National Tree Day
National Tree Day is quickly approaching, with the event scheduled for Sunday July 28. This year's event will be held at the PCYC end of the Wollondilly River Walkway (27 Kenmore Street) between 9am and midday. Goulburn Country Motors (Toyota) is the major sponsor of the day and will provide us with tree stakes and guards and a free barbecue will be run for all participants. Hope to see you there!
