Ganesh Acharaya, 30, of Goulburn, appeared in the Goulburn Local Court on July 29. He did not enter a plea to a charge of assault.
He was wearing a suit and tie.
Police have alleged an 85-year-old woman - who was a resident in an aged-care facility - was being attended to by Acharaya in the bathroom of her quarters at about 7pm Tuesday, July 23.
Police will allege Acharaya slapped the victim across the cheek with his hand.
They said the incident was reported to management by a fellow staff member and Acharaya was immediately stood down from his duties. The woman did not suffer any injuries.
The aged-care facility alerted police and they commended an investigation, resulting in his arrest on Wednesday, July 24.
He was taken to Goulburn Police Station and has been charged with one count of assault.
Outside court, his solicitor Andrew Gadd said his client denies the claims.
"He strongly denies the alleged claims," Mr Gadd said.
Magistrate Geraldine Beattie continued Acharaya's bail, originally granted by police.
His matter has been adjourned to August 26 in the Goulburn Local Court.
