Dustin William Clancy, 20, of Goulburn pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, being a learner driver driving unaccompanied, not displaying L-plates, not giving his particulars to the other driver and contravening an apprehended violence order when he appeared in Goulburn Local Court on Monday, July 29.
Police said at about 2.50pm on July 17, they saw Clancy, an unsupervised 20-year-old learner driver who was known to them, driving a Toyota Rav 4 on Mary Street and were aware his learner's permit was suspended.
Police said the L-plater drove onto Cathcart Street and into Landsdowne Street at an excessive speed. He drove onto the incorrect side of Hume Street and collided with a Holden Colorado ute, also driven by a 20-year-old Goulburn male, before running away from the vehicle. Police apprehended him a short distance away.
Police said Clancy's female passenger had secured an apprehended violence order against the him, meaning he was not permitted to be in her company.
Clancy was initially refused bail by police and appeared in Goulburn Local Court on, July 18, where he was granted bail.
In court, Clancy's solicitor said his client pleaded guilty to all the charges, but that representations would be made regarding agreed facts within two weeks.
Police had no issue with this.
Magistrate Geraldine Beattie adjourned the case to Goulburn Local Court on August 12 for sentence.
