This comes after a wonderfully successful musical review in 2014.

The show will include twenty five songs from musicals like Oklahoma, Dirty Dancing, The Sound of Music, Priscilla, Mamma Mia, The Lion King, The Mikado and many more.

Songs from the show devised and developed by Marianne Powles have been chosen to highlight each singer's strengths.

Ms Powles is supported by Hannah Cotton as choreographer, Helena Bozzetto designing and making costumes and Blake Selmes staging and marketing the show.

The cast includes many Lieder regulars alongside performers from all over town and a strong troupe of Lieder youth.

Councillor Alfie Walker will be singing "He Lives in You" from The Lion King and "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" from Oklahoma.

Melissa Shoard will sing "Wishing You were Here Again" from the Phantom of the Opera and Rod McConnell sings "When I was a Lad" from HMS Pinafore to name a few.

The Youth Theatre will perform "Do Re Mi" from The Sound of Music and Kids from Bye Bye Birdie while the whole company are kept constantly busy throughout with songs like "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray and "Children will Listen" from Into the Woods.

It's a tight squeeze sometimes on the Lieder stage but the company of performers make it work and even allow space for the musicians under the direction of Marianne Powles. The musicians include Mark Biasutti, Geoff Stewart Richardson, Catriona Woods, Hannah Gee, Melissa Shoard, Harrison Treble and Blake Selmes.

There were talks about coming up with the musical for over a year, so the performance is one not to be missed.

After the opening day, the show will continue on Saturday, August 17 at 2pm and 7.30pm, Wednesday August 21, Friday, August 23 and Saturday August 24 at 7.30pm.
