The Goulburn Dirty Reds and the Gungahlin Eagles go head to head in the grand final of the ACT First Division First Grade competition on Saturday, August 10 at Viking Park from 11.25 am.
The Eagles have the edge over the Dirty Reds, having beaten them twice already this season.
The Dirty Reds have only lost three games all season compared to the Eagles' one, but coach Ben Pearson says his side is a chance if they play smart and stick to their game plan.
"They have a significant weapon in their scrum," Pearson said.
"If we can overcome that obstacle, which is a huge thing for them as they live off it, we have a really good chance of winning this game as they are not as strong as we are in other areas.
"There's a lot of experience across the team too.
"The number of players we have who have played over 100 games is considerable."
Pearson said making the final was a significant achievement in itself and wanted the victory for the players due to the huge efforts put in all year.
"The last grand final we were in was in 2016," Pearson said.
"The year after was tough due to low numbers and decent players leaving.
"Last year, we played a lot of good quality football, only losing four games all year, and bowed out in the semifinals.
"It was very disappointing when we were eliminated."
Putting all the heartbreak aside, the mood among the group is positive at the moment and there's a lot of excitement.
"There's always a bit of trepidation, but if we want to win, we have to go out there and risk it," Pearson said.
Head to Viking Park on Saturday, August 10 from 11.25am to support the oldest country rugby club.
