I go with a group of walkers who leave the park at 9.30 on a Monday. There is barely a day we are there that a bus isn't pulled into the park. Sometimes there are as many as three or five at a time. That is a lot of people in the park at one time.
What there should be is more room for buses along the bottom of the park in Sloane Street near the information centre. They are visitors to our town, bringing dollars to spend.
The second thing I disagree with is trees being planted in the middle of the street between Montague and Clifford Streets. Haven't you learnt from past mistakes they rip up the pavements. People can also trip on them and councils can get sued.

We didn't vote for this
I write regarding the proposal to move buses away from the courthouse to make eight angle parking spaces.
This has to be a joke when 32 parking spaces were removed in the main street to plant trees. (GP Fri Aug 9).
Reality: Move people away so trucks can reverse into the narrow laneway for access to proposed Performing Arts Centre.
Consequences: Tourist buses no longer stop in CBD as no public conveniences, so go to South Goulburn.
The Mayor says to plant trees in the median strip in Auburn Street between Montague and Clifford, for a greener, cleaner space.
Reality: This will not increase business in the main street. This will not make the main street cleaner. The main street is for traffic flow which will be disrupted during changes as will business with three vacant shops already in this location. Estimated cost - a whopping $320,000 and need to include cost of existing paving and 12 planter pots at $1200 each and 12 dead little gem magnolia trees.
Consequences: Trees planted might not live.Traffic over tree roots kills trees. Pedestrians still cross through trees with greater chance of tripping. The visual impact of the main street will be broken by disrupting the continuity of similar visual appearance. Surely the public did not vote for this.
Preferably: Leave the continuous median strip throughout the main street. Leave the touring bus park in present location so visitors can enjoy beautiful Belmore Park, access tourist info, access conveniences and remain close to CBD. Make police parallel parking into angle parking and allocate a few for general use. Create angle parking outside Dimmeys on Montague Street and move taxi rank to other side of road outside ANZ.

- Editor's note: The council says bus travellers can be dropped on Auburn Street in front of NAB and the bus parked temporarily elsewhere.
Why are stores shutting?
I moved here four years ago from the the Illawarra. Is Goulburn going backwards?
I thought I'll move to a town that is growing, but the stores are shutting down. Locals say it is council's (fault) and I don't doubt that. Seriously, wake up council and make Goulburn a thriving district not a town gone backwards.

Establish federal ICAC
I would like to endorse Stuart Mawbey' s words (GP Mon Aug 12) regarding the establishment of a federal investigation body.
Corruption of any type cannot be tolerated in our society, especially if it involves politicians. Where there is prima face evidence of corruption in any party it must be rooted out.
When the vote came to establish a body to investigate federal water issues it was voted down by the Liberal Party and shamefully, by the Labor Party.
They would only do this if they had something to hide.
I say a pox on both parties. No matter what comes out of a legitimate enquiry we will be better off as a society.
