The local community in Taralga went to the effort of creating a medical centre from which someone could come and provide consultations.
This was something its new GP Dr Lisa Opie wanted to especially illustrate, because she thinks it was such a fantastic and proactive thing for the local people to do for themselves.
Dr Opie has lived with her family in nearby Crookwell for about the last 10 years and still works from Crookwell hospital anywhere from two to six days a week as needed, and the local nursing home, and does consultations in Gunning from time to time.

Dr Opie started practising in Taralga about four weeks ago.
Thrive Medical is currently operating in the Bunnaby Street facilities from 10am to 4pm each Tuesday, with Dr Opie supported by practice manager Tania Croker, and nurse Ruth Myvalt whom you can book to see for things like regular health checks, as well as dressings and advice such as weight loss and exercise programs.

Dr Opie is a big fan of this region and also has a personal interest in ensuring everyone's mental health is seen to, and helping to manage chronic illness.
Thrive have the intention of expanding the hours and services if the demand is there, but they can already provide most GP services except vaccines. And they are soon to take delivery of an ECG machine to do heart checks in Taralga.
Meanwhile work is also underway to add a Thrive practice in Crookwell at the old fire station.
