Dr Susanne Storrier, who has been practising in Goulburn for the past 42 years, wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone how important it is to keep track of all your immunisations.
Dr Storrier especially noted the spate of whooping cough cases in Goulburn recently, as well as there being quite a number of measles scares in NSW, plus the current seasonal problem of the influenza virus.
"It is very important for everyone to talk to the nurse or GP at their clinic and have them check as to whether their immunisations are up to date," Dr Storrier said.
"Also, immunisation doesn't finish when you are five," Dr Storrier illustrated, pointing out that children continue to receive immunisations and boosters through into their teen years, and as adults we are strongly encouraged to have seasonal vaccines such as for influenza, those relevant to any destination you may be going to visit, and others as we get older such as for shingles.

Dr Storrier praised the in-school immunisation programs - especially the fact that boys now also get the HPV vaccine as well as girls - and notes that clinics such as Marima can also catch children up if they missed any of them.
Dr Storrier also pointed out that Indigenous people aged 15-49 with a particular medical condition are encouraged to have the vaccine for pneumonia, and also noted the importance of pregnant women having the vaccines for influenza ahead of the season as well as whooping cough.
