The cow, which was bolted to the driving range, had a 'bulls eye' for a bottom.

It was removed by unknown persons at about 2am on Sunday morning.

The Golf Club's head pro Andrew Grove said it would have taken some effort to remove the cow cut out.

"It was bolted to stakes. It appears the people who took it jumped on these stakes to remove it and the sign is now a bit damaged," Mr Grove said.

But it is not damaged beyond repair and Mr Grove said the cow would be back up on it's four legs soon.

He said the cow was found in a nearby paddock.

"It was found over in the horse paddocks in Eastgrove by a woman, who returned it," he said.

"Because it was returned, I have not contacted the police, but I do have CCTV footage of the incident.

"In future, I will report such incidents to the police," he warned.

Meanwhile, the cow is being patched up and is looking forward to once again being installed on the driving range where it can 'moo' happily ever after.
