"To the club, thank you," Cornish said.
"It has been an awesome year and hopefully we can do better next year."
However, an emotional Dillon Rota who won the player's player award along with Mitchell Cornish stole the show at the Goulburn Bulldogs presentation night at the Workers Club on Saturday, September 14.
Rota got emotional when he spoke about his love of the team, moving from New Zealand and the heartbreak of losing his mother.
To add to the moment, a couple of his New Zealand teammates began to perform the Haka.
While club presentation nights acknowledge the achievements of individual players, it also reflects on the year as a whole.
For Goulburn Bulldogs president Joe Stephens, the season turned out better than he expected.
"Before the season, if you told me we'd win the club championship, I wouldn't believe you," Stephens said.
"That's a big ask, but in reality, we were up to the challenge.
"We did achieve this and it has been a fantastic effort by everyone."
Although grand final day was heartbreaking, Stephens was certain things would be even better next season.
"Grand final day wasn't ours," he said.
"Knowing the effort that everyone had put into the season though, will only spur us on more to go back to do it all again next year.
"We'll do it right next year when we win all four grades."
One of the main goals when Bulldogs First Grade coach Adam Kyle joined the club was to play "Goulburn football".
"Two years ago, we started to rebuild the club," Stephens said.
"We looked at changing the club's culture and our values.
"I can proudly say we are well ahead of where we wanted to be."
Kyle also wanted his side to be the best defensive side in the competition and it happened.
Other best and fairest winners were League Tag's Amy Day, u19's Max Flack and Reserve Grade's Jason Gray.
