Saturday, October 5 will see the unveiling of the plaque at Burra Lake, where the explorers Throsby and his party first sighted Taralga land.
There will be lots going on in Goodhew Park, with market stalls, the Ukulele Group and a Classic Car muster.
At the Historic Society Complex there will be a shearing exhibition, blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, sausage sizzle, the Mountain Dew Band, a Smoking Ceremony, plaque unveiling and the official opening.
There are also tours to Stonequarry Cemetery and the Taralga Railway Station, as well as a 10km Spring Fun Run, 4km Spring Fun Run, Macarthur's Richlands House open, art gallery, gift shops, coffee shops, pubs all open. There is a Saturday Night Country Dance in the Memorial Hall.
On Sunday, October 6 there will be a Charles Throsby re-enactment before the street parade to the Taralga Showground. The Street Parade entrants will be on display, as well as market stalls, a barbecue, picnic races, spit roast, camp oven demonstration and tasting, Gymkhana, touch football and live music. The best-dressed awards will be held. The theme is '200 years ago'.
The NRL Grand Final will be televised on the big screen. So it's all turned on at the Taste of Taralga Festival.

Valance Lang
Valance Lang passed away recently in Mudgee, where he had worked in the mines before taking a position of ambulance officer.
He later worked for the RSL. Valance was the second eldest son of Donald and Alma, from "Fernlee" and he was a brother to Gloria (dec.), Bruce (dec.), Cecil, Willamena (dec.) and Veronica.
Before leaving Taralga, Valance worked in the Marble Quarry with Col Arnold and Ron Faucett. His last work in Taralga was assisting Charlie Lang in building Bolong Shearing Shed.
Home again
Peg Mills, Maureen Long, Margaret McIntosh and Elaine Connor have returned after an extended 20-day tour of the south of Western Australia.
The women were impressed with historical Freemantle with a very interesting war museum, the Kalgoorlie Gold Mine, Rottnest Island, Margaret River Winery, and a river trip up the Margaret River looking at some magnificent homes.

A trip up to Geraldton was highlighted by a visit to see Monkey Mia, while the group also went south to Albany and Esperance with its plethora of stalls. The wildflowers were another highlight of the holiday.
CALLING ALL TENNIS PLAYERS
The Taralga Tennis Association is having a Muster on Sunday, October 20 at 11am. It should be a great day with a barbecue and giveaways. The muster will be to sign up members for the next year and gauge interest in a Tennis Competition for adults.
