We have lots of really good local manufacturing taking place in some of Goulburn's small businesses.
One shining example of this is Choice Interiors.
A family-owned business run by the Charnocks, they employ skilled tradesmen and dedicated apprentices who craft and install all manner of joinery for homes, businesses and government, from kitchens and bathrooms to office and shop fit outs.
"Choice Interiors provide architectural joinery to large firms in Sydney, Canberra and surrounds. This work is detailed and intricate and requires precision workmanship," Chris Charnock says.
"We are currently providing architectural joinery items at [federal] Parliament House," Chris adds.

"Due to the complexity of the projects, we are in a niche market, providing high-end joinery for customers," Chris explains.
"[Our] quality joinery and attention-to-detail has customers ecstatic about the finished product. We are one of the select few joinery shops who completes this type of work."
They're doing work worthy of wider recognition too.
Chris pointed out that they did all the interior joinery throughout Headland House in Gerringong, a spectacular holiday home overlooking the ocean which won the HIA Australian House of the Year award announced in May this year.
The team consists of John Vandennieuwenhuizen who has been in industry over 50 years and still works part time, along with experienced tradesmen Jamie Carr and Stephen Polzin, plus Ryan Day who has now completed his cabinet making apprenticeship with them.
Jacob Casey is still undertaking the same apprenticeship, and they're on the lookout for another apprentice at the moment, but be aware that Jacob and Ryan have already set the bar quite high.
Jacob was the winner of the Goulburn Chamber of Commerce Trainee/Apprentice of the year 2018, and this year he recently competed in World Skills in Canberra and keenly awaits the results.
"Doing the World Skills helped me learn new skills in the joinery-making area of cabinet making," Jacob said, adding "I have good mentors, and I'd like to thank Chris and team at Choice Interiors, and everyone else for teaching me lots of things."
Ryan meanwhile was Outstanding Cabinet Making Apprentice for the year 2019 (Canberra region) at the 2019 CITC Graduating Apprentice and Industry Encouragement Awards.
Ryan said the award was an "honour to receive. Canberra's cabinet makers are talented so I'm very proud to be a part of it. I'd just like to thank Chris and the Choice family for their assistance, and Steve and Jamie for guiding me, and also to CIT for their assistance with my final project."
