The current economic headwinds, exacerbated by the drought gripping much of NSW, are making for extremely tough circumstances in which to operate a business.
These sentiments and circumstances were very much behind the chamber's decision to develop and recently launch a social media campaign to promote local businesses and encourage people to spend locally.
With the tagline "Give Locals a Go - Shop 2580", the campaign aims to encourage local people to give a "shout out" to local businesses, be they businesses with a "bricks and mortar" presence or an online platform.
The campaign, in which people can participate by joining the Goulburn Chamber of Commerce Facebook page, will run over the next eight weeks, with regular update posts.
Also with a view to supporting local businesses, the meeting of the chamber to be held at 7.30am on Wednesday, November 13 at Goulburn Workspace (formerly Workspace 2580) is to be addressed by representatives of the Australian Street Rod Federation (ASRF).
The ASRF is holding their regional nationals in Goulburn, April 10-12, 2020.
Based on previous figures, 600 hot rods and custom cars are expected, with around 1,500 to 2,000 people visiting Goulburn to enter and participate in the event.
Thousands more day trippers visiting specifically for the Show'n'Shine and the Street Krooze will provide a significant economic impact for local business, tourism and accommodation industry.
