Traffic is not affected but police are asking motorists to slow down at the scene. More details as they come to hand.
Meantime, the RFS has pounced on a small outbreak on Railway Parade, Tallong.
Southern Tablelands operational officer Lachlan Gilchrist said the fire broke out just after 3pm in grassland within the town's limits. Four appliances from Big Hill and Tallong quickly doused the fire, which burnt half a hectare.
The cause is unknown.
"Fortunately (aside from a small fire at Bowning this morning) there's been nothing else in our region today but the incident at Tallong indicates how seriously we are taking today," Mr Gilchrist said.
