Skateboard workshops were supposed to happen during the skatepark extension's official opening on Saturday, September 21 but was postponed to Saturday, November 16 due to poor weather. Sydney based skateboarding company Totem ran the workshops and Goulburn Mulwaree Council's youth services coordinator Luke Wallace said the event was run as part of the youth council. "We started around 10 years ago and the founders were youth workers," Ms Longmire said. "The goal is to empower youngsters to gain confidence." They also ran an intermediate course where they taught the skaters what they wanted to learn. There was a free barbecue for everyone involved.
