Luke Bryan Lazenby, 29, of Goulburn has been charged with two counts of reckless wounding, wound person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and resist or hinder police.

His solicitor Rod Boyd said to the open court on Monday morning that Lazenby was in custody but would not be appearing in court that day.

Mr Boyd did not apply for bail for his client and it was formally refused by Magistrate Geraldine Beattie.

Lazenby has not entered a plea.

He has been adjourned to reappear in Goulburn Local Court on January 22 for a reply to the brief of police evidence.

A Police Can sheet tendered in court said they were called to an address in Cowper St between 9 and 10pm on Friday, November 15.

Police allege Lazenby wounded three people in that vicinity.

Hume District crime manager, Detective Chief Inspector Brendan Bernie previously described the stabbing in Cowper Street as a "brutal attack."

He said the crime scene was "quite horrific in the amount of blood."

DCI Bernie said police believed a 33-year-old man was stabbed first and several people came out to see what was happening. As a result, an altercation broke out.

Police believe it was not a random attack - two of the victims were neighbours, and it's understood the others involved worked together.

Detective chief inspector Brendan Bernie said on arrival at the scene, officers found a 57-year old man with stab wounds to his abdomen and arm, and a 29-year-old man with lacerations to his head.

"A short time later and a short distance away, police located two males in a villa complex. They were aged 33 and 17," he said.

"The 17-year-old man had a single stab wound to his upper torso, and the 33-year-old man had severe stab wounds to his stomach and face."

Police understood the latter two came to the assistance of the 33-year-old man.

A third crime scene was located at nearby Combermere Street, Goulburn.

A 37-year-old woman was arrested but has since been released pending further inquiries. Police said said she did not witness the incident, but had assisted police.

Police said they secured a hunting knife.
