Hosted by the Goulburn Tennis Club for the second time, this year's cup will feature 180 players from across the country, some of whom are among the nation's top 100 players.
Club professional Dave Ridland said the standard of tennis is likely to be exceptionally high this weekend.
"We have players ranked inside the top 100 and a lot of players just outside the top 100 in Australia," Ridland said.
"A lot of players that are very young but really talented and working their way up the rankings to try possibly make it in tennis one day [will participate]."
One such player was last year's men's winner, Rhys Searant. Though only 19 years old, Searant was the top seed for the tournament and, in a very tight final against Blazo Djurovic, showed exactly why he is a promising player.
The biggest change from last year to this year is the number: from 120 players in 2018, 60 more have signed up in 2019, which shows how well the event was run.
Ridland said this was likely to be the biggest tennis event to come to Goulburn in decades.
"Tennis [in Goulburn] hasn't had this sort of event since the '80s up until last year," he said.
"This tournament shows local juniors what it takes to be quite a good tennis player if you put the hard work in. And it puts something on the calendar that people can come back each year and watch some tennis that is not far away from being professional."
With the high standard of tennis that is set to arrive this weekend, Ridland said that many in the club were eagerly awaiting the beginning of the tournament.
"The club and its members especially the juniors and families are excited," he said.
The Goulburn Cup is an Australian Money Tournament (AMT), which is described by Tennis Australia as "semi-professional tournaments ... designed to create quality matchplay opportunities and help with the transition for post junior athletes."
There are four levels of AMT, and Goulburn is a bronze-level tournament.
The Goulburn Tennis Club thanked its sponsors for their continued support.
