Residents attending questioned the council on various issues, particularly the possibility of bitumening gravel roads (no), replacing Towrang Bridge (no funding available at the moment) and replacing the timber bridge on the Carrick Road, which currently has an 18 tonne limit (chasing funding - apparently there is too much concrete for it to be defined as a wooden bridge, despite its wooden foundation).
During the discussions, council advised that they renamed the Mayoral Drought Relief Fund in August this year. The fund is now available to assist community members in the Goulburn Mulwaree LGA who suffer from hardship as a result of unforeseen emergency situations, eg flood, fire, etc, not just drought.
This could be very useful to those who are reliant on tank water and have an emergency. Go to this website to find the link to a form that needs to be completed and submitted to the committee: www.goulburn.nsw.gov.au/Council/Grants-Financial-Assistance#section-4
Towrang Tavern change
Due to a function being held at the Towrang Hall on the last Friday of November, it has been decided to move the Tavern night to the following night, Saturday, December 1, commencing at 6.30pm - for this month only. It's the same as usual, perhaps bring along some Christmas-style nibblies and don't forget your Chrissy hats. The hall will be decorated for the Christmas party that night as well.

The Tavern night for December will be Tuesday, December 31, New Year's Eve. This is for all those people who don't have anything better to do that night and wish to ring in the new year with friends in a similar situation. BYOE and stay till midnight if you wish.
You'd better watch out
Yes, it's that time of the year again. The Towrang Annual Community Christmas Party is on Saturday, December 14 at the Towrang Hall, starting from 4.30pm. Bring along your nibbles and drinks, the kids, grandkids, family and visitors and get together with old and new friends.
Weather permitting there will be a jumping castle for the kiddies (they loved it last year), but this will depend on the wind and heat. Santa will be arriving so a wrapped, labelled gift to the value of $10 for your child/children for him to distribute is important. Sausages on rolls will be provided for the kiddies, and chicken, salad and rolls for the adults. It would be greatly appreciated if each family could bring along something to share for dessert.
An invitation has been hand-delivered to every letterbox and gatepost along Towrang Road (and roads leading off), Bulls Pit Road, Carrick Road, Tiyces Lane, Boxers Creek Road, Rampion Hills Road and the Hume Highway from Murrays Flats to Rampion Hills Road. Looking forward to seeing old (long-time, anyway) and new residents. Contact towrangnoticeboard@yahoo.com.au if you do not appear to have received one.
Chemical CleanOut
The Household Chemical CleanOut is on Saturday, December 7 from 8am to 12 noon at the Goulburn Recreation Area car park. This is a great opportunity to clean out household chemicals and items such as solvents, household cleaners, paints, poisons, fire extinguishers, car batteries, pool chemicals, herbicides and pesticides - up to 20lt or 20kg per single item.
Free disposal weekend
The council's next free disposal weekend is Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and 3, 2020. This weekend will allow you to dispose of mattresses, whitegoods, air conditioners, e-waste and steel.
Towrang Rural Fire Brigade News
Towrang Brigade members attended the annual NSW RFS Southern Tablelands Zone Exercise on Sunday, November 10 which was held at Marulan. Over 280 emergency services personnel attended from all parts of the Southern Tablelands Zone and participated in a total of eight separate scenarios, such as pumping and water transfer, first aid, fire over-runs.
A number of other organisations gave up their time to assist with the set up of the sections and the catering, including some members of the Lieder Theatre who came along and very realistically painted the Marulan Lions Club members who had volunteered to be bus accident victims.
A number of our local volunteers have been part of strike teams from our region have been assisting with the fires in the northern part of the state, some heading up for their third or fourth time. It has been a horrendous few months, and vigilance - and commonsense - is paramount. No slashing, no angle grinding, no lawnmowing, and especially no burning off, during this windy weather or Total Fire Ban days.
