Special guests included National Councillor Marilynne Weston, Zone Councillor Annie Brown-Bryan, three members of Goulburn Day VIEW, and other friends.
Lorraine chaired the meeting, and after a delicious meal, Bev Edgar was invited to cut the birthday cake beautifully made and decorated by Del Mills.
Bev was a foundation member of GEVC in 1971 and has supported the work of the Smith Family ever since.
Marilynne was then invited to speak and congratulated the club on its 48th birthday.
Her two years in office ends soon and June Weise will be the next National Councillor.
She reminded members that next year VIEW is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and she encouraged members to become a 'Story Sleuth' and write about the contribution of other VIEW members over those years.
The 2020 diamond jubilee celebration will be held in Sydney on July 23.
Zone Councillor Annie also spoke about her two years in office coming to an end, and how she enjoyed her term.
She reminded members about the Christmas gala at the Hellenic Club on December 6 and the excellent guest speakers and entertainment on that day.
The meeting continued, and members were asked to help with TSF Toy Distribution on Friday, December 13 between 9am and 2pm and to consider taking positions on the committee at next year's AGM.
Our next meeting is on December 10. It is our Christmas dinner and Stuart Coe will provide the music.
Members are reminded to bring a gift to the value of $10 and a stationery item for our Learning for Life students.
