The local real estate agent and Anglican pastor who started the popular event 28 years ago handed the event's organisation over to a group of businesspeople from Marulan in 2018. But now he's back showing them the ropes before he really hangs up his carols hat next year.
The Saturday, December 1 event in Belmore Park costs up to $50,000 annually to run. On Tuesday night the council decided to contribute $5000 from its financial assistance grants towards the fixture. It's in line with previous contributions.
Mr Mylonas said every little bit helped.
"It's always appreciated. Every dollar we get is a good dollar because it goes back to the community and makes a difference to families," he said.
"It can be a a pretty hellish time for some so we try to build memories through holding the carols."
Setting up the stage alone costs $12,000 and a feature artist - about $13,000. Last year, artist fees totalled $42,700, according to financial statements tendered to the council.
Other sponsors such as Divalls and the Central Motor Lodge are coming on board and some funds are raised through sausage sizzles on the night. However, generally, Mr Mylonas makes up any shortfall himself.
This month's event will once again feature the Koi Boys, the male trio who this year appeared on The Voice, along with many other acts. Locally, the F5 choir and African church will play a role. Popular compere, Chris King will host the night.
The evening usually draws up to 7000 people from Goulburn, Canberra, Bowral, Braidwood and the Central Coast.
