The new year has begun in style for the Hockey family as their second child was born at Goulburn Base Hospital on New Year's Day.

Mason Lee Cameron Hockey was born at 1.18pm on Wednesday, January 1 weighing in at 3.625 kilograms and measuring in at 53.5 centimetres long.

He was born to parents Jessica Boyd and Cameron Hockey and has a five-year-old brother called Beau.
The family came up with the name Mason after going through baby books, but it wasn't without disagreements.
The name Louis was hotly contested, but Mason won out in the end.
It has been a busy time for Goulburn Base Hospital during the Christmas and New Year period with seven babies being born there between Wednesday, December 18 and Wednesday, January 1, including five Christmas babies.
Local babies born in the festive period include William Martin Beasley, Tommy Jack Esson, Alexie Ellen Louise Chandler, Edward John Boyd and Sabrina Maree Medway.
