Hosted by the Goulburn Martial Arts Academy, Australian CHITF vice president and academy head instructor Craig Harmer said the event, to be held at Veolia Arena, would see plenty of competitors from all over the state.
"We're hoping to get about 100 competitors," Harmer said.
"Currently, we have people from Goulburn, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Mildura looking at entering."
Harmer, who was only recently voted in as vice president, hopes the event will occur annually,
"We're a new body, so this will be our first one," he said.
"Hopefully we will host biannual national titles, too, and this is one of the first steps to get that up and running."
As a result of Harmer's seniority in the taekwondo world, Goulburn was able to gain the rights to host the state titles.
"As a member of the national governing body, I was one of the only ones in a position to host them," he said.
"You've got to be a minimum rank to host a tournament."
The state titles will be one of the first of the year, so it is a chance for the competitors to prepare for what will be a big year ahead.
"Some of the guys coming from Sydney will have world championships later this year with other governing bodies," Harmer said.
"We'll have nationals for the Australian CHITF in Melbourne later this year.
"It will be a good opportunity to have a hit-out early in the year so they can fix anything they need to address for the larger tournaments."
The categories of competition are patterns, sparring, special techniques, team patterns, self defence routine, team sparring and power test.
