The event is usually held on the first weekend in May.
It had been growing in popularity, with over 10,000 attending the event in 2018.
Tallong Apple Day Convener Christine Wursten posted in Facebook this morning that the event had been cancelled.
In that post, she said the decision had not been made lightly.
"The event relies on sponsorship, donations and volunteers and we feel that with the recent enormous generosity from our local community members and businesses it will be inappropriate at this time to ask for support for the festival," she wrote.
"On behalf of The Tallong Community Focus Group and Tallong Apple Day Committee that we wish to advise The 2020 Tallong Apple Day Festival has been cancelled."
She advised other factors leading to the decision included a concern for community and visitors safety.
"While to date the current fire season has had minimal property loss to our village, there has been an enormous loss to our neighbouring villages, massive affects to our flora and fauna, all which will take time to recover," she said.
"Our hard-working committee is also heavily involved in many other community organisations, including the Tallong RFS, Marulan CWA, Memorial Hall Trust and the Tallong Reserve Trust.
"They have generously given their time to this current fire situation in our village, and it would be a massive ask for them to give more of themselves again to organise and hold such an event.
"Our local groups who are an integral part of the festival are continuing to work hard and will be for many months protecting our community, supporting each other through this challenging and unpredictable fire season and continuing drought."
She said the committee would use this time to continue to support our local RFS, rebuild the community and support each other through this crisis.
"The Tallong Apple Day Festival will be back in 2021 (the 15th festival), and we promise to bring you another fantastic event that we can all enjoy," she said.
"The Tallong Community Focus Group and all our local community groups extend condolences and best wishes to all those affected by the fires."
She said any questions could be addressed to the president@tallong.com.au
