The Australia Day celebrations this year will be held in Victoria Park on Sunday, January 26 with Michael Prevedello, 2GN news reader and winner of best country news presenter at the Australian Commercial Radio awards as this year's ambassador.
The official ceremony will begin at 10am and will include the Local Citizen of the Year awards and a citizenship ceremony.
Mayor Bob Kirk encouraged the community to come along and enjoy the day in picturesque Victoria Park.
"The day begins with a free BBQ breakfast from 7:30am-9am, while the pool opens for free entry at 9am. We have market stalls and food stalls booked, along with performances from the conservatorium and local artists," he said.
Meanwhile, Marulan has decided to cancel their Australia Day event this year due to their dependence on RFS volunteers to assist with setup for their event, as well as potential fire concerns.
Goulburn event is expected to draw even larger crowds than usual from around the region.
People will have free access to the Goulburn Aquatic Centre which will be open until 5:45pm, with the aqua run in the outdoor pool from 1pm - 4pm.
Celebrations in Victoria Park will run throughout the morning and into the early afternoon, with these expected to wrap up around 2pm due to the expected heat.
