This year's festival is featuring world touring Inka Marka group showcasing authentic Andean traditional music from Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador with pan flute and quena (bamboo flute), Spanish guitar, charango (small ten string instrument), violin and South American drums.
The Chinese Lion is returning with the baby Lions that were so popular last year to celebrate the Year of the Rat. There are more than 25 groups including African Gospel Choir, Bollywood, Pacific Islands, Filipino, Colombian, Indonesian, Chilean, the Goulburn GRUBS and the fabulous Liz Barling Scottish dancers with the Goulburn Pipes and Drums. The festival will also feature no less than five bellydance groups as well as two very colourful and lively Hellenic Dancers and the Serbian Folkloric Dancers which are huge groups from Canberra.
The festival is truly a fun day for families many spending the day under the shady trees of Belmore Park while enjoying the variety of entertainment and food on offer. Street food includes Italian wood-fired pizzas, Indian samosas, Mexican burritos, Greek churros, Russian cuisine, Turkish kebabs/gozleme as well as Filipino sweets and Italian gelato.
The Goulburn Multicultural Centre organises the festival annually in partnership with Goulburn Mulwaree Council in a true community spirit with lots of local volunteers contributing their time. I am particularly proud to see all the Goulburn people who come together to make this such a successful festival each year. Please come along and enjoy the festival with us. Attendance is free.
