"A search has been conducted in the Kendall area in relation to the ongoing investigation," a NSW Police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

"No further information is available at this time."

Seven News reports the property searched was the same one police, sniffer dogs and SES personnel scoured in August last year.

The sawmill on Herons Creek Road is where a person of interest in the case lived when William vanished.

Frank Abbott is expected to testify at the ongoing NSW inquest into the suspected abduction of William when it resumes in March, a source has previously told AAP.

Abbott was living in a caravan on the sawmill when the toddler disappeared six years ago, Ten News reported last year.

A large-scale search of different Kendall bushland in June 2018 found no signs of the missing boy cementing the view of detectives that William was almost certainly abducted.

That search two years ago was designed to rule out William dying in a case of misadventure.

No one has been charged in relation to William's disappearance.

Hundreds of people have been dubbed "persons of interest" during the investigation and a case detective admitted during the inquest there's "a very low standard to meet in order to become a person of interest".

Counsel assisting the coroner Gerard Craddock SC in August stressed that any suggestion those called to give evidence were suspects was "simply wrong".

"This is an inquest and not a criminal trial," he said.
