The Goulburn Friendship Club donated the money to the Southern Tablelands RFS on Wednesday, February 19. Southern Tablelands Zone operations officer Michael Gapps received the donation on behalf of the RFS.
Mr Gapps said the brigade certainly appreciated the support.
He said recent fires and the support of the community had both been overwhelming.
The firefighter said the money would be provided to Goulburn Mulwaree Brigades to use on new equipment for daily duties.
Mr Gapps advised people interested in donating to their community could contact their local brigade.
The Goulburn Friendship Club was established 35 years ago with the aim of supporting the local community through social events and charitable donations. Currently, club membership sits at around 100 members.
Club treasurer Elizabeth Grice said they decided to donate the money to the RFS because the bushfires had been in the news.
"We try to give to local good causes," she said.
"We try to be friendly."
Mrs Grice encouraged people to join the club and get involved with the community.
"Being a friendship club we try to encourage people who are new to the area or feeling lonely to come along and get out of the house," she said.
