A recent report reveals incidents of theft have decreased in the Goulburn Mulwaree region.

The quarterly update for NSW was released by the Bureau of Crime Research and Statistics (BOCSAR) on Wednesday, March 4.
According to the report, theft was down 12.7 per cent per year over a two year period. There were 714 incidents of theft in 2019 and 818 in 2018.
In NSW domestic assault was up five per cent. In the Goulburn Local Government Area domestic assault was stable with 116 recorded incidents in 2018 and 113 in 2019.
Incidents of non-domestic assault were stable in a two year trend with eight counts of assault of a police officer in 2019 and six in 2018. More incidents of non-domestic assault in the area were not alcohol related. There were 171 non-alcohol related recorded incidents in 2019 compared to 73 alcohol related. While AVO breaches were up 12.4 per cent across the state, trends in Goulburn remained stable.
Drug offences in NSW were up 9.3 per cent but trends in Goulburn remained stable. Statewide, certain drug offences continued to rise. In the 24 months to December 2019 possess/use of amphetamines increased by 11.7 per cent, possess/use of narcotics increased by 16.7 per cent, dealing/trafficking in cocaine increased by 25.4 per cent and importing drugs increased 165.2 per cent.
Seventeen people were convicted of arson in the area in 2019 compared to six the year before. Pornography offences in the LGA had doubled since the year before with four in 2018 and eight in 2019. Intimidation stalking and harassment was up 9.2 percent in NSW with Goulburn remaining stable with 84 offences in 2019 and 67 the previous year.
In a long-term 10-year-trend: theft, assault, malicious damage to property and disorderly conduct had declined. Over this period crime against justice procedures was up 4.7 per cent per year.
