The plexiglass screens have already been installed at Town Hall and Kellyville North. They will be progressively rolled out across every store in the coming weeks.
On Saturday, March 21 a range of social distancing measures were implemented in-store to help customers and team members follow the latest public health advice.
Posters placed in prominent sections of the store help provide customers and teams with tips to minimise contact with others.
Customers have been encouraged to use their trolley as a distance guide and advised to follow new floor markings at checkouts.
Additionally, Woolworths announced they would provide security guard coverage in every single store across the country on Friday, March 20.
These new measures were rolled out over the weekend.
Woolworths managing director Claire Peters said stores remained open and they would continue to stand by the Australian community through this health crisis.
"As our team members continue providing for the community, we will do everything necessary to uphold public health and safety in our stores," she said.
"We know it's not always easy to maintain social distancing at our checkouts, so we've started installing plexiglass screens as an additional safeguard for our team members and customers."
The store has also implemented: new product limits, priority deliveries to help the elderly, people with a disability and those is mandatory isolation, a dedicated shopping hour for the elderly and, suspended online orders for pick up.
Additional measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus have also been introduced. The store recommends using the size of your trolley as a distance guide between you and other shoppers, following markers on the floor at the checkouts and using tap-and-pay whenever you can. Hand santiser stations have also been placed in the store.
As an extra precaution, Woolworths have increased cleaning with stores doubling their cleaning time from five to 10 hours per day. Staff members will also start wearing protective gloves.
